Matthew E. Romanik, B.C.S., is a civil litigation attorney with three decades of experience in civil litigation, with an emphasis on employment matters and trial work. Mr. Romanik has a wealth of experience in matters involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, employment discrimination, workers' compensation, personal injury, and disability. Board Certified in Workers' Compensation by the Florida Bar, Mr. Romanik is Volusia County's longest continuously board-certified workers' compensation attorney and has practiced law based in the county since his admission to the Florida Bar in 1995.
Mr. Romanik has held leadership roles with the Florida chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, serving as President, Vice President, and Board Member. He is also a member of the Florida Justice Association, the Volusia County Bar Association, and the Florida Bar. His community involvement has included board service with the City of Daytona Beach's Historical Preservation Board, the Halifax Historical Society, the Halifax Heritage Byway and Trails, and the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida, Inc.
After earning both a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida in 1992, Mr. Romanik went on to attend the University of Florida's Fredric G. Levin College of Law, graduating in 1995. During his undergraduate and law school years, Mr. Romanik worked with the University's Soil Science department on a statewide soil hydrology mapping project aimed at helping farmers optimize water usage through sustainable conservation practices — a project he was granted a rare exemption from the law school's first-year employment restriction to continue, and one he saw through to completion alongside his legal studies.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Mr. Romanik moved to Florida as a young child and has been based in Volusia County throughout his legal career. Outside of the practice of law, he enjoys bicycling, kayaking, hiking, and boating throughout Florida's outdoors, and he is the proud father of a daughter who is a dedicated gymnast.
