John Rutledge is a partner with Hagood & Hagood and the Civil Litigation Practice Group Leader for the Firm. John represents clients of all sizes on litigation matters, including those involving contract disputes, construction issues, and general business matters. John possesses significant experience in complex business and commercial litigation, arbitration, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Prior to joining Hagood & Hagood, John began his legal career at one of the largest plaintiff law firms in the country, representing individuals and small businesses in complex litigation matters. John then moved to a prestigious AM Law 200 firm, where he represented individuals, businesses, and government entities in both state and federal matters.
After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Florida State University, John went on to attend University of Florida’s Levin College of Law, graduating cum laude. While in law school, John clerked for the Honorable Judge Melanie May of the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal.
Outside of the practice of law, John is an avid fan of Florida State University sports and also roots for the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, and Florida Panthers. When he is not watching sports with his Labrador Retriever, Toby, John is likely trying to improve his golf game.
